According to Studio Ceramics Canada, Thomas Kakinuma was a highly regarded mid-century potter and sculptor living and working in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. Throughout the 1950s and 60s, his ceramic art was celebrated across Canada, and received significant international recognition. Interest waned in his stylized pottery and sculptures by the mid 1970s, as modernism in general fell out of fashion. With the passage of time, and the passing of original owners, Kakinuma’s work has started to resurface, and once again is capturing attention. (1027, 1088)
